Hostgator Reviewed
If you have an online business, then you need hosting for your website. When I started online, I went through a couple of hosting services before settling down with Hostgator. It is a really important decision to make because poor hosting can take up your time, cause some unecessary problems like not being able to run certain programs, end up costing more because of inflexibility with their upgrade plans, and provide you with poor, inferior service which leaves you high and dry with your problems.
At the moment, you can get a massive 20% discount off any hosting plan with Hostgator (use the coupon through this link) so now a genuinely good time to get hosted and pick up some nice savings, especially if you pay 12-24 months upfront, although you can pay month by month with Hostgator with no lock-in contracts to set-up fees. When I personally started with Hostgator, I started with their Baby Plan for only $9.95 per month although you can now get it for a lot cheaper as mentioned above. I chose Hostgator for a couple of reasons. First of all, I started hearing about the service from a couple of marketers in ebooks I bought which recommended the service for the same reasons I find really cool. I’ve since moved up to another plan recently which went really easily and smoothly with the guys at Hostgator doing all the necessary backups and installs.
OK, reasons why Hostgator is cool.
- They have over 700,000 sites hosted that should instill some confidence and they have premium data centres that ensure stability and security.
- You can host Unlimied Domains. This is huge as many hosting comany’s restrict the number of domains you can host to just 1 or 2 typically. Check out my websites and blogs on this blog in top-menu. If I was restricted, it would cost me heavily.
- On the Baby plan, I get 6,000Gb Banwidth and 600Gb Space. On the Swamp plan, I get Unlimited Bandwidth and 1,000Gb Space for $5 per month, but in most cases, the Baby plan will be completely adequate.
- Did I mention the prices are really cheap? plus there are no set-up fees or any other fees.
- 24 hours, 7 days support which I have personally used and let me tell you, living in Australia, getting support any time of the day is really important, and furthermore, being a small business, I could be working anytime, any day of the week or year including public and religious holidays. Support is important - really important.
- 99.9% Uptime Guarantee. Enough said.
- Unlimited Addon domains, unlimited sub domains (important) and unlimited FTP accounts which is really handy if there are more than 1 person needing access to the domain. Additionall, you also get unlimited POP3 email account.
- Unlimited SQL databases with PHP 4 & 5 - really important particularly if your’re going to be using 3rd party products which are often programmed in PHP and use SQL databases. I generally have several SQL databses off every domain for various reasons from autoresponders to tracking software and lots in between.
- 24/7 Support which is incredibly important to me, particularly living in Australia and being a small business, I have the habit of potentially working any day, any time.
- cPanel administration software which is way cool and allows you do heaps of stuff.
- Fantastico allowing super-easy installation of blogs, forums, support software and much more.
- Tons of additional goodies too long to list here which all make the service extremely value packed.
I guess Hostgator has a huge scale of economics which allows them to provide incredible services for insanely low prices but I just want to reiterate that Hostgator have never missed a beat with me over the last 2 years and I completely give my personal recommendation for Hostgator hosting services for individual webmasters, home businesses, small businesses, mid-large business and even corporations with their dedicated hosting plans. And as I said, right now, with 20% discount makes it an even better time to join up with Hostgator for your hosting requirements.
